Book a Tour
Our tour itinerary has been coordinated with the State of Georgia's daily ferry schedules and are geared towards day trippers. The daily ferry schedule can be found at Ferry Information - Marine Institute (uga.edu). If you are lodging on the island, please let us know ahead of time and we can adjust an excursion accordingly. Sunday trips are available upon request for overnighters. We limit our tours to no more than four guests on each excursion, we find this benefits our clients and encourages open dialogue.
Monday thru Friday: Arrival at the mainland Meridian Dock should be no later than 8:10am (ferry leaves promptly at 8:30), as you will need to find parking and pay the $5.00 (cash) ferry fee trip to Sapelo. If you arrive earlier, a visit to the Sapelo Island Visitors center is recommended. The tour begins on Sapelo Island when the ferry arrives at the Marsh Landing (Sapelo) dock, I will look for you when you arrive.
3-hour Tour: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Leaving the mainland at 8:30 you will arrive on Sapelo at approximately 9:00am. The tour will commence with a short trip to the University of Georgia's Marine Institute and the South End Mansion. From there we will head to the Sapelo Island lighthouse and thereafter to Nanny Goat Beach for a brief dip your toes in the ocean. After a quick pass through the Hog Hammock community, we travel, time permitting, to Cabretta Island. We will round out the tour with a short visit to Long Tabby and then back to the Marsh Landing Dock by way of the RJ Reynolds Airfield. We should be able to end the trip at approximately 11:45am to catch the noon ferry out.
3-hour Tour: Saturday. On Saturday the mainland side ferry leaves the Meridian dock 30 minutes later than on weekdays (9:00). We recommend you arrive no later than 8:40am, earlier if you would like to visit the Sapelo Island Visitors Center. The Saturday excursion is the same as the above 3-hour tour but ends at 12:15pm as the ferry leaves Sapelo promptly at 12:30pm.
The three hour tours are $75 per adult (maximum of 4 )
5-hour Tour: Tuesday and Thursday. On these two days the ferry leaves Sapelo at 2:30pm, two hours later which allows for a trip to Chocolate Plantation. The 5 hour excursion will have the same diversions as the 3-hour but with an additional trek to the north end of Sapelo which takes about 30 minutes to get the Chocolate Plantation. There is a small convenience store on the island but the "Hours Open" are irregular at best, so on the 5-hour tour we recommend you bring a sack lunch, drinks or snacks.
5 hour tours are $150 for first person and $75 for additional guest(maximum of 4)
3 to 5 hour Tour: Sunday. For overnighters (guests who have made separate travel arrangements) a Sunday Tour can be arranged, south end tour or/and north end tour. On the 5 hour tour, please bring your own lunch, drinks or snacks.
