Our bull and gator logo symbolize the clash of two different worlds, the cold and rugged Scottish Mountains and the dense tropical marshes of coastal Georgia. The fearless Scottish Highlanders, who routed the Spanish in war, were venerated by the Indians, and who first settled the islands and raised cattle in the harshest of conditions, are represented by Sapelo’s wild bull. The harsh and primeval environment on Sapelo is depicted by its main apex predator, the ferocious American Alligator. The surrounding circle represents Sapelo’s Shell Rings that were constructed by primitive Indians over 5,000 years ago, their ritual purpose is still an enigma to archeologists today.
